About Project Connect
To bring people together to better understand one another and to support the well-being of our community, our country and our world.
Who We Are
Project Connect is a group of engaged Santa Cruz citizens who care deeply about bridging the many divides in our society. With roots in Santa Cruz Indivisible (SCI), our team came together in the spring of 2017. Since our beginnings, we have been interested in reconnecting fellow citizens with each other locally and nationally. We turned our passion for bringing people together by offering "Conversations for Change" in early 2018. These conversations allow citizens with different viewpoints on seemingly divisive topics, to safely and enjoyably share their own experiences.
Early in our development, we started forming alliances and collaborative ties with Finding Common Ground, another SCI team. We built a strong working relationship with Living Room Conversations (LRCs), a national group which provides open source resources for groups discussing political and social topics. Using the LRC format, we organize discussions about issues relevant to our community and the nation.
Beginning in 2019, we formed a partnership with our local library, offering monthly Conversations for Change at the main branch. We also provide training to individuals and groups who want to host conversations of their own. To learn more about who we are and what we do, please contact us.
